I was given a license, but I don’t have access

If someone else purchased a license on your behalf, whether it’s a company, manager, or friend, you might try to log in and find you don’t have access. You may see this message:

"You need an active license to access this feature."

This means your email isn't recognized in our system as having an active license. Here's why this happens and how to fix it quickly.

Understanding roles: billing person vs. member

Every membership has two roles:

  • Billing Person: The person who purchases the license.
  • Member: The person who will be learning and accessing the content.

When the same person takes on both roles using the same email address, everything connects smoothly, your license is tied to your login.

However, when someone else buys the license for you, they must enter your email address as the student address during the purchase process so that the license is assigned to you, the learner.

What went wrong?

If the billing person enters their own email (instead of yours) during checkout, our system assigns the license to them instead. As a result, when you try to log in with your own email, you’ll see the “no active license” message because your account isn't linked to the purchased license.
